MADISON, Miss., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Bob Tway shot 8-under-par 64 Thursday to lead after one round of the Southern Farm Bureau Classic at Madison, Miss.
The event was re-scheduled to this week from Oct. 6-9 because of the effects of Hurricane Katrina on the area near the tournament's site. All net proceeds will be donated to Hurricane Katrina relief.
Two-time PGA Tour winner Jonathan Byrd is alone in second place at 7-under-par 65, leading Kevin Na, Tom Pernice Jr., Bo Van Pelt and Tom Byrum, who all shot 6-under 66 to tie for third.
"It is kind of amazing that we are even holding the golf tournament this week," Tway said. "It's pretty neat to see that they were able to persevere and have it."
Kirk Triplett, Joey Snyder III, Brian Henninger and Paul Gow are tied for seventh place at 5-under-par 67.
Byrd has not missed a cut since late August.
