Other winners Wednesday were Robby Ginepri, Gaston Gaudio, Thomas Johansson, David Ferrer, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Tommy Robredo and Dominik Hrbaty.
Ginepri outlasted Fernando Verdasco, 6-3, 6-7 (7-9), 6-3, and Hrbaty beat Jean-Rene Lisnard, 6-3, 6-3, to set up a third-round match against Roddick.
