
HOUSTON, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Kris Brown kicked a 40-yard field goal with 2:45 left Sunday as the Houston Texas beat the Cleveland Browns, 19-16.
It was the Texans' first win of the season after seven losses.
Brown was 4-of-5 on field goal attempts. Beleaguered quarterback David Carr was 10-of-20 passing for 138 yards and one touchdown as Houston beat the Browns for the first time in franchise history.
Domanick Davis gained 91 yards on 28 carries, while Jabar Gaffney had five receptions for 64 yards. Jerome Mathis scored Houston's only touchdown.
Trent Dilfer was 12-of-25 for 185 yards and one score, Reuben Droughns rushed for 99 yards on 20 carries, William Green added 48 yards on 10 attempts, and Antonio Bryant made four catches for 98 yards for the Browns (2-5), who lost their third straight.
Phil Dawson booted three field goals.
