Venus Williams out at Advanta Championship

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Venus Williams Saturday withdrew from next week's Advanta Championships because of a knee injury.

The reigning women's singles champion at Wimbledon is still recovering from an injury that also caused her to skip the Kremlin Cup earlier this month. The oft-injured former world No. 1 Williams has not competed since pulling out of the China Open last month.

Williams' sister, Serena, had already withdrawn from the Advanta Championships, which starts Monday. Serena is done for 2005 due to ankle and knee ailments.
