Saint Liam looking good for Classic

ELMONT, N.Y., Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Trainer Rick Dutrow says he's hoping Saint Liam will turn in another stellar performance in the Breeders' Cup Classic -- Powered by Dodge at Belmont Park.

Dutrow said the 3-1 morning line favorite's performance in the Stephen Foster and the Donn Handicap show he's got what it takes to capture the top prize in Saturday's 1 1/4-mile, $4.68 million contest.

With Jerry Bailey aboard, Saint Liam, has three wins in five starts this year, and is set to explode from post position 13 -- something Dutrow says "is not a problem for me ... I was happier with the 13 than the one or two."

Bolstering that view is history.

Of the three Classics run at Belmont, winners Unbridled broke from the 14 post in 1990, Cigar, from 10 in 1995 and Tiznow from 10 in 2001.

Second favorite Rock Hard Ten galloped 1 1/2 miles on the main track Thursday.

Trainer Richard Mandella said he's still icing a bruise the horse received on his left front foot Oct. 20 and he's hoping it will not be a factor.
