Ravens lose Reed, Lewis for Steelers game

OWINGS MILLS, Md., Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Ed Reed and Ray Lewis of Baltimore will miss Monday night's game at Pittsburgh because of injuries.

Reed sat out last Sunday's 10-6 loss at Chicago with a sprained ankle. Lewis suffered a hamstring strain late in the game.

"The next guy steps up, and that's the mentality," said Coach Brian Billick. "That's a tall order, but you can't approach the game any other way."

Reed was the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year in 2004. In 53 career games, he has 251 tackles, four sacks and 21 interceptions, two for touchdowns. The two-time Pro Bowl choice has registered 19 tackles through five games this season.

Lewis has played in 134 games in his 10-year career and has 1,286 tackles, 23 sacks, and 21 interceptions. He was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2003.

The middle linebacker has 46 tackles, one sack, and one interception in six games in 2005.
