NHL: Philadelphia 5, Florida 4 (OT)

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Joni Pitkanen scored the game-winning goal Thursday night at 1:13 of overtime as Philadelphia edged the Florida Panthers, 5-4.

Peter Forsberg scored with 50 seconds left in regulation to send the game into the extra session. He also had two assists, Simon Gagne added two goals and an assist, Pitkanen had the one goal and an assist, Keith Primeau and Eric Desjardins each had two assists, and goalie Robert Esche stopped 30-of-34 shots to help the Flyers win for the fourth time in five games.

Olli Jokinen and Nathan Horton each had a goal and an assist and Roberto Luongo made 35 saves for the Panthers (6-5-0).

On the power play, the Panthers went 3-for-8 while the Flyers went 1-for-7. In shots on goal, Philadelphia had the edge, 40-34.
