LYON, France, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Andy Roddick of the United States was among Tuesday's opening-round winners at the Lyon Tennis Grand Prix.
Roddick, the Wimbledon runner-up, defeated Frenchman Thierry Ascione 7-5, 6-3 to stop a three-match ATP losing streak. The former world No. 1, Roddick recently suffered opening round losses at the U.S. Open and Madrid Masters.

Roddick's victory Tuesday was the 300th of his career.
Belgian Olivier Rochus upset second-seeded Argentine Mariano Puerta, the French Open runner-up, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 and French favorite Marc Gicquel defeated sixth-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer 6-4, 6-0.
Fifth-seeded Spaniard Tommy Robredo avoided an upset by beating Ecuador's Nicolas Lapentti 2-6, 7-5, 6-4.
