NHL: Anaheim 5, Phoenix 3

ANAHEIM, Calif., Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Petr Sykora, Teemu Selanne and Andy McDonald each scored first-period goals Sunday as Anaheim beat the Phoenix Coyotes, 5-3.

Rob Niedermayer had one goal and one assist, Jonathan Hedstrom scored once and Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 24 shots as the Mighty Ducks broke a three-game skid.

Former Mighty Duck Mike Leclerc scored twice and Geoff Sanderson added a goal and an assist for Phoenix (3-6-1), which has dropped two straight.

Phoenix edged the Mighty Ducks in shots on goal, 28-27. Anaheim (3-4-1) was 2-for-6 on the power play while the Coyotes were 2-for-8.
