COL FB: Notre Dame 49, BYU 23

SOUTH BEND, Ind., Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Brady Quinn threw a school record six touchdown passes Saturday as 12th-ranked Notre Dame routed Brigham Young, 49-23.

Quinn was 32-of-41 passing for 467 yards and no interceptions. Maurice Stovall had a school-record 14 receptions for 207 yards and Jeff Samardzija added 10 catches for 152 yards and two scores as the Fighting Irish improved to 5-2 after last week's tough loss to top-ranked USC.

For the Cougars (3-4), quarterback John Beck went 26-of-45 for 317 yards passing, two touchdowns and two interceptions, Jonny Harline had eight catches for 100 yards, and running back Naufahu Tahi had 73 yards receiving and 63 rushing.

BYU had had a two-game win streak broken.
