NHL: Chicago 3, Colorado 2 (SO)

DENVER, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Tuomo Ruutu scored a game-winning shootout goal Friday night as Chicago beat the Colorado Avalanche, 3-2.

The Blackhawks improved to 2-3-0. Jaroslav Spacek and Kyle Calder scored goals in regulation for Chicago, and Nikolai Khabibulin recorded 27 saves.

Joe Sakic and John-Michael Liles had regulation goals for the Avalanche (2-3), who got a goal from Alex Tanguay in the shootout and Peter Budaj made 38 saves.

The Blackhawks out-shot Colorado, 43-30, but was 0-for-8 on the power play. Colorado was only 2-of-12.
