CLEMSON, S.C., Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Freshman running back James Davis of Clemson will miss at least 3-to-4 weeks after undergoing left wrist surgery on Friday.
He suffered the injury Thursday night, when the Tigers routed North Carolina State, 31-10.
Davis rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns before he was hurt early in the third quarter and was forced to the sidelines.
"James had an outstanding game on Thursday night," Coach Tommy Bowden said on the school's Web site. "He was on pace to have a 200-yard game. We will miss him, there is no doubt, and are optimistic he will be back in 3-to-4 weeks."
Davis' rushing total was the most in one game by a Clemson player since Woody Dantzler had 184 yards against N.C. State in 2001, and the most by a Tiger running back since 2000.
For the season, Davis has 433 yards on 84 carries.
