The Bears (1-3) have not issued an official statement, but the Chicago Tribune said it is likely that Jones will miss this Sunday's game against Minnesota.

Jones is also expected to visit notable sports surgeon Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion.

If Jones is unable to play, rookie running back Cedric Benson would get the start, with Adrian Peterson also likely to get some carries.

"Cedric is next in the rotation, but I was pleased with what Adrian Peterson did," head coach Lovie Smith told the paper. "He's a good running back."

Jones has rushed for three straight 100-yard games this season and has 413 rushing yards on the year with four touchdowns. Jones has also caught 11 passes for 41 yards.

In limited action, the highly touted Benson has ran for 65 yards on 24 carries and no touchdowns.

Moreno, 26, spent his first four NFL seasons with the San Diego Chargers. In 57 career games, which included 15 starts, he posted 166 tackles, three sacks, and one interception.

A shoulder injury cut his 2004 season short after just nine games, but in 2003 he started 12 games and had a career-best 96 tackles with a pair of sacks.

Moreno had signed with the Houston Texans in the offseason, but was waived/injured before the start of the 2005 campaign after suffering a leg injury.

The Eagles also released linebacker Mike Labinjo and defensive end Alonzo Jackson.

Saints acquire Chatman from Dolphins

SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- The New Orleans Saints acquired running back Jesse Chatman from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a future conditional draft pick.

The trade was announced by Mickey Loomis, the executive vice-president/general manager of the Saints.

With running back Deuce McAllister out for the remainder of the season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, the Saints hope to provide some depth at the running back position by trading for Chatman.

Antowain Smith and Aaron Stecker, along with Chatman, will replace McAllister.
