NHL: Ottawa 4, Montreal 2

MONTREAL, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Daniel Alfredsson had two goals and Antoine Vermette scored 2:58 into the third period Tuesday as the Ottawa Senators beat the Montreal Canadiens, 4-2.

Alfredsson has five goals through four games for the Senators, who are unbeaten so far this season. Dany Heatley got his fourth assist of the year.

Ottawa scored the final three goals of the game and became the last remaining undefeated team in the Eastern Conference.

Saku Koivu and Steve Begin each had a goal for the Canadiens, who suffered their first loss in four games. The last time Montreal opened the year 3-0 was in 1978.
