MLB: St. Louis 7, San Diego 4

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- David Eckstein went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer as St. Louis beat San Diego 7-4 for the 3-game sweep of the National League Division Series.

Reggie Sanders also drove in two runs for the Cardinals. He finished the set with 10 runs batted in, setting an NLDS record for RBI in a single series.

Through six innings, Matt Morris (1-0) allowed two runs and five hits while striking out four and walking three. Jason Isringhausen recorded the final four outs to nail down the save.

Dave Roberts and Ramon Hernandez homered for the Padres, and Woody Williams (0-1) was handed the loss after surrendering five runs and six hits in just 1 2/3 innings.

The Cardinals will play the winner of the Atlanta/Houston series in the NL Championship Series.
