NHL: Boston 7, Pittsburgh 6

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Glen Murray's second goal Saturday night at 1:23 of overtime gave the Boston Bruins a 7-6 win over Pittsburgh in the Penguins' home opener.

Murray also had one assist, Joe Thornton had three assists and Sergei Samsonov scored a goal and added two assists for the Bruins, who bagged their first win after starting the season with losses to Montreal and Buffalo.

Pittsburgh forward Sidney Crosby, the first overall pick in this year's draft, scored his first NHL goal and added two assists. Penguins captain/team owner Mario Lemieux scored his first two goals of the season.

Pittsburgh dropped to 0-1-2.
