John Daly takes the lead at San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- John Daly shot a 3-under-par 67 Saturday and grabbed the lead after 54 holes at the WGC-American Express Championship in San Francisco.

At 9-under 201, Daly is one stroke ahead of Colin Montgomerie, who led after the first two rounds.

Montgomerie shot a 1-under 69 Saturday and is 8-under 202. On Sunday, he will be searching of his first official win in the United States.

Tiger Woods shot a 2-under 68 and is tied for third place with Sergio Garcia (67) at 7-under 203.

Henrik Stenson (67) is alone in fifth place at 6-under 204. Stuart Appleby (69) has sole possession of sixth at 5-under 205.

Vijay Singh (69), David Toms (70), Sean O'Hair (71) and Jim Furyk (71) are tied for seventh place at 4-under-par 206.

Graeme McDowell, Adam Scott and Chad Campbell are among those at 3-under 207 heading into Sunday's final round.
