Montgomerie still leads at San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Colin Montgomerie shot 1-under-par 69 on Friday and has a one stroke lead after 36 holes at the WGC-American Express Championship at San Francisco.

Montgomerie is 7-under 133. He is seeking his second straight win after capturing the dunhill links championship last weekend.

John Daly and David Howell both shot 3-under 67, and trail Montgomerie at 6-under-par 134.

Tiger Woods, who eagled the par-four seventh after knocking his tee shot within six feet, shot a 4-under 68 and leads a group of six players tied for fourth place at 5-under 135. Others at 135 are Angel Cabrera (66), Mark Calcavecchia (68), Jim Furyk (67), Fred Funk (68) and Sean O'Hair (67).

Sergio Garcia (69) is tied for 10th with Stephen Ames (64), Billy Mayfair (67), Stuart Appleby (65) and David Toms (68) at 4-under 136.

Vijay Singh (70) is tied with five others for 15th at 3-under 137.
