SEATTLE, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Forward Reggie Evans of the Seattle SuperSonics has signed the team's one-year qualifying contract.

"We're thrilled to have one of the top rebounders in the NBA back in a Sonics uniform this season," said Seattle General Manager Rick Sund. "Reggie is a tenacious rebounder and he has always found a way to have an impact on the court. He's like a bulldog around the boards."

Evans averaged a career-high 9.3 rebounds and 4.9 points per game in 79 games last season.

In his three-year career, the 6-foot-8 inch, 245-pounder has averaged 3.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest in 221 games. The un-drafted product from Iowa signed with the SuperSonics as a free agent in 2002.

In another roster move, the Sonics, waived rookie guard/forward Omar Thomas from Texas-El Paso.
