Raptors acquire James from Houston

TORONTO, Ontario, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- The Toronto Raptors acquired guard Mike James from the Houston Rockets Tuesday in exchange for guard Rafer Alston.

James, 30, has played four seasons between Miami, Boston, Detroit, Milwaukee, and Houston. He has career averages of 9.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 248 career NBA games.

Undrafted by any NBA team, James spent the 1998-99 campaign playing in Austria then played two seasons in France from 1999-2001. He then moved to the CBA playing for the Rockford Lightning before being signed by the Heat in 2001.

The 29-year-old Alston, meanwhile, has spent six seasons in the NBA playing for Milwaukee, Miami, and two stints with Toronto. During his career he has averaged 8.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.
