COL FB: Va. Tech 34, West Va. 17

MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Marcus Vick threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns Saturday to lead No. 3 Virginia Tech to a 34-17 win over West Virginia.

Vick, who also rushed for a score, was 15-of-17 passing and had 74 yards on the ground as the unbeaten Hokies improved to 5-0. His longest run was for 23 yards.

Eddie Royal had six receptions for 71 yards and one touchdown, tight end Jeff King scored a touchdown for the fourth game in a row, and Cedric Humes added 79 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.

For the previously unbeaten Mountaineers, who fell to 2-1, Pat White was 9-of-11 for 85 yards. He also rushed for 44 yards and Steve Slaton added 90 yards on 11 carries.

The schools will not play in 2006 after facing each other every year since 1973. The Hokies lead the overall series 29-21-1.
