TUSCALOOSA, Ala., Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Brodie Croyle threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns Saturday as No. 16 Alabama trounced fifth-ranked Florida, 31-3.
Croyle went 14-of-17 passing, Tyrone Prothro added 134 receiving yards and two touchdown catches, and the Crimson Tide improved to 5-0 overall and 3-0 SEC. Kenneth Darby rushed for 101 yards on 15 carries.
Alabama is 5-0 for the first time since winning its first seven games in 1996.
For the shell-shocked Gators, Chris Leak went just 16-of-37 passing for 187 yards and two interceptions. Dallas Baker had six receptions for 119 yards and Chad Jackson had 50 yards on eight catches.
Florida was down, 17-0, in the first quarter before even managing a first down -- and trailed, 31-3, after three quarters.
The Gators did have nearly 200 yards on the ground.
