WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Zina Garrison will again be captain of the U.S. Fed Cup team in 2006, the USTA announced Wednesday.
The United States travels to Germany next year for the World Group I quarterfinal tie on April 22-23.
"We believe in Zina's abilities as a leader and are thrilled to have her continue as captain," said Franklin Johnson, USTA president and chairman of the board.
"It is a great honor for me to continue as captain of the U.S. Fed Cup team," said Garrison. "I am committed to working with our country's top players to field the best team possible and with one singular purpose -- winning the Fed Cup in 2006."
Garrison started in the post in 2003, succeeding Billie Jean King. She has compiled a record of 2-2. The Americans lost to eventual 2005 champion Russia 4-1 in the Fed Cup semifinals in July.
