Georgia Tech quarterback Reggie Ball, who missed last week's game and was hospitalized for several days because of viral meningitis, started but struggled for Georgia Tech (3-1, 1-1). He completed just 11-of-27 passes for 143 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.

King, who scored the game's first TD, blocked a 35-yard field goal attempt by Travis Bell that would have brought Georgia Tech to within four points. Instead, D.J. Parker scooped the ball up and raced 78 yards to give Virginia Tech a 14-0 first quarter lead.
