CHICAGO, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- The Chicago Bulls Friday signed free agent forward Darius Songaila to a contract.
No terms were announced.
The 6-foot-9 inch Songaila played in 81 games last season for the Sacramento Kings and averaged 7.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest.
"This is a very significant signing for us and we are extremely excited to add Darius to our roster," said Bulls executive vice president of basketball operations John Paxson. "He is the type of player and person we desire and his level of skill will strengthen our already solid front line."
Songaila was chosen by the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 2002 NBA Draft out of Wake Forest, and traded to the Kings for two draft picks.
In 154 career games (28 starts), the native of Lithuania has averaged 6.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
