CINCINNATI, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Austin Kearns knocked in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning Thursday night as Cincinnati beat St. Louis, 6-2.
Edwin Encarnacion added three RBI and Ryan Freel had two hits and scored twice for Cincinnati, which has won seven of 12. In relief, winner Todd Coffey improved to 4-0.

Jim Edmonds and Yadier Molina each had an RBI for St. Louis. Losing pitcher Ray King fell to 4-4.
The Cardinals, who won the National League Central Division last week, have lost five if eight, but are assured of home-field advantage in the NL playoffs.
