Tigers' Bonderman done for 2005

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Detroit Tigers right-hander Jeremy Bonderman will miss the rest of the 2005 season because of elbow tendonitis.

Manager Alan Trammell made the announcement shortly before the Tigers were beaten, 4-3, at Kansas City Wednesday afternoon, running their losing streak to seven in a row. The team said on its Web site Bonderman passed up a side throwing session Wednesday morning to rest his ailing right elbow.

"He didn't feel like he was up to it," Trammell said.

Bonderman, who was scheduled to start Sunday against Seattle, finishes with a 14-13 record and a 4.57 ERA.

"It's not like I don't want to be out there," said Bonderman, who lost seven of his last eight starts, "but I feel like it's best for me to rest it, be healthy for next year and not do anything stupid."
