NFL players of the week named

NEW YORK, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Cleveland quarterback Trent Dilfer was selected AFC offensive player of the week and Cincinnati cornerback Deltha O'Neal won the defensive honor.

Indianapolis punter Hunter Smith was selected AFC special teams player of the week, the NFL said Wednesday.

Dilfer completed 21-of-32 passes for 336 yards and three touchdowns in the Browns' 26-24 victory at Green Bay. The yardage total was the second-highest of his 12-year career.

O'Neal had three interceptions and a team-best eight tackles in the Bengals' 37-8 win over Minnesota.

Smith had a 46.1-yard average on seven punts in the Colts' 10-3 win over Jacksonville.

Their NFC counterparts were Washington wide receiver Santana Moss (offense), Tampa Bay linebacker Shelton Quarles (defense) and Chicago punt returner Bobby Wade (special teams).

Moss had five receptions for 159 yards against Dallas, Wade complied 87 yards on three punt returns against Detroit, and Quarles had 10 tackles and one sack for a safety for the Buccaneers against Buffalo.
