ANN ARBOR, Mich., Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Chad Henne connected on three touchdown passes to lead 14th ranked Michigan in a 55-0 rout of Eastern Michigan Saturday.

Max Martin rushed for 117 yards and scored twice for the Wolverines, and Jason Avant hauled in eight passes for 93 yards and two more scores as Michigan (2-1) bounced back from a home loss to Notre Dame a week ago.

This one was never in doubt, as Michigan matched a school-record with 28 points in the first quarter. It was the Wolverines' first shutout since blanking Notre Dame in 2003.

Matt Bohnet completed 13 of 25 passes for 118 yards with an interception for Eastern Michigan (1-2), which remained winless in 19 meetings with the Big Ten and fell to 0-7 against Michigan.
