MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Brian Griese threw two touchdown passes to Alex Smith Sunday as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers posted a 24-13 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
Griese completed 18-of-29 passes for 213 yards for the Bucs (1-0). Tampa Bay rookie running back Carnell Williams rushed for 148 yards, and had a 71-yard touchdown run with 1:24 remaining in the game.

Minnesota's Daunte Culpepper was 22-of-33 for 233 yards with three interceptions and two fumbles lost.
The Vikings were beginning the post-Randy Moss era. Minnesota's lone TD came on an interception return by Darren Sharper.
