SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- It was all Giants newcomer pitcher Matt Cain in a 2-1 victory over the Cubs Friday night at SBC Park, the second in a four game series.

Cain went all nine innings for San Francisco, allowing two hits with one walk and eight strikeouts.

The Giants drafted Cain in the first round of the 2002 draft.

This was Cain's third start and he improved his record to 2-1.

The victory broke a three-game losing streak for the Giants, who have won seven of their last 10 games.

It also snapped a three-game winning streak for the Chicago, whose lone bright spot of the night came when Derrek Lee's home run notched him 98 RBI on the season.
