COL FB: Purdue 49, Akron 24

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind., Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Brandon Kirsch completed 22-of-34 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns Saturday to lead the 13th-ranked Purdue Boilermakers to a 49-24 victory over Akron.

Jerod Void rushed for 101 yards and a TD, Dustin Keller caught two touchdown passes, and Kory Sheets rushed for a TD and added another on defense for the Boilermakers (1-0).

Luke Getsy was 25-of-44 for 283 yards with two touchdowns for Akron (0-1), which has lost both career meetings against the Boilermakers. Akron's Jason Montgomery caught five passes for 154 yards and three touchdowns.
