MLB: L.A. Angels 3, Boston 0

BOSTON, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Bengie Molina and Robb Quinlan each had one RBI Thursday night as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim beat Boston, 3-0.

Casey Kotchman added two hits for the Angels, who have a one-game lead over the idle Oakland Athletics in the American League West.

Winner Paul Byrd threw seven-plus scoreless innings, improving to 11-9. He gave up only four hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

Loser Matt Clement dropped to 13-4. He yielded three runs and five hits over 6 2/3 innings with three walks and two strikeouts. Clement had won three straight decisions before the setback.

With the win, the Angels broke a six-game road losing streak.

Boston, which hosts the New York Yankees in a three-game series beginning Friday night, had five players with one hit each.
