MLB: St. Louis 4, Houston 1

HOUSTON, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Jim Edmonds and Yadier Molina each had two RBI Sunday as St. Louis beat the Houston Astros, 4-1.

Abraham Nunez had three hits and scored a run for the Cardinals, who have won two in a row and three of their last five contests.

Winning pitcher Jason Marquis, who threw a complete-game, rose to 11-13. He gave up only one run and five hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

It was the Cardinals' second straight complete game performance. Chris Carpenter threw one Saturday night.

Lance Berkman hit a home run in the fourth inning for Houston's only run.

Loser Wandy Rodriguez dropped to 9-7. He surrendered three runs and four hits over six innings with two walks and four strikeouts.

The Astros have lost two straight, but remained one-half game behind front-running Philadelphia in the National League wild-card race.
