NFL suspends Duane Clemons

NEW YORK, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Defensive end Duane Clemons of Cincinnati was suspended for the first four games of the upcoming season for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

The club said the suspension began Saturday and Clemons will be eligible to rejoin the Bengals' active roster on Monday, Oct. 3. Clemons, a nine-year veteran, has been placed on the Reserve/Suspended list by the league, but will not count against the team's 53-player roster limit.

He was one of three players suspended for the same reason on Saturday.
