MLB: Atlanta 8, Washington 7 (10 inn.)

ATLANTA, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Andruw Jones homered to lead off the bottom of the 10th inning Thursday night as Atlanta beat Washington, 8-7.

Rafael Furcal had three hits and scored twice, Jeff Francoeur had three RBI, and Chipper Jones added one hit, drove in two runs and scored twice for the Braves, who rose to 7-4 in one-run games. They now have a seven game edge over the Nationals in the National League East.

In relief, winner Kyle Davies rose to 7-3.

Vinny Castilla went 2-for-5 and had four RBI, and Jose Guillen had one hit and scored three runs for the Nationals, who have dropped four of six and fell three games behind NL wild-card leader Philadelphia.

Loser Luis Ayala, who gave up the game-winning home run, dropped to 8-7.
