
ANAHEIM, Calif., Aug. 31 (UPI) -- The L.A.Angels of Anaheim have acquired left-handed reliever Jason Christiansen from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for two minor league pitchers.
Christiansen, 35, went 6-1 record with a 5.36 ERA in 56 games with the Giants. In his major league career with Pittsburgh (1995-2000), St. Louis (2000-2001) and the Giants (2001-2004), he has a 27-26 record with 16 saves in 516 appearances.
In the deal, the Giants got pitchers Dusty Bergman and Ronnie Ray.
Bergman, a left-hander, is 8-5 with a 3.25 ERA with eight saves for Triple-A Salt Lake.
"He was a possible call-up and he's the guy to keep an eye on," said General Manager Brian Sabean on the Giants' Web site. "We'll take a long look at him."
Ray, a right-hander, was 6-4 with a 3.75 ERA and one save with Single-A Cedar Rapids.
