CROMWELL, Conn., Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Justin Rose fired a 7-under 63 on Friday to grab the second-round lead at the Buick Championship in Cromwell, Conn.
Rose stands at 12-under-par 128, four shots better than Ben Curtis and Kevin Sutherland.
Curtis, a former British Open winner and first-round co-leader, and Sutherland each shot 2-under 68 on Friday and stand at 8-under 132 through 36 holes. Dean Wilson (66) shares fourth with Chris Smith (67) at 7-under 133.
Michael Putnam, who is making his professional debut this week, shot a second-round, one-under 69 and is tied for sixth with J.J. Henry (67), Tjaart van der Walt (66), Robert Allenby (66) and Tim Petrovic (67) at 6-under 134.
J.L. Lewis, who shared the lead with Curtis on Thursday, struggled to a 4-over 74 and is part of a group tied for 37th place at 2-under-par 138.
