SEATTLE, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- The Seattle SuperSonics Wednesday matched the Minnesota Timberwolves offer sheet to restricted free agent guard Damien Wilkins.

The offer sheet was worth a reported $15 million over five years.

Wilkins, an undrafted rookie out of Georgia last season, played in 29 games for the Sonics, averaging 6.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per contest.

"Due to his outstanding work ethic in his rookie season, Damien earned the respect of our players, coaches and fans," said Seattle General Manager Rick Sund. "He improved as much in one season as any player we can remember and we expect that trend to continue. We believe Damien will be a part of our young, talented core for years to come."

In seven playoff games, Wilkins registered 5.6 points in 19.4 minutes per contest. The 6-foot-6-inch, 225-pounder is the son of former NBA great Dominique Wilkins.
