MLB: San Francisco 5, Philadelphia 0

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Moises Alou belted a three-run homer as the San Francisco Giants downed the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-0, at SBC Park.

Noah Lowry (10-11) surrendered just five hits and came just one out away from his first shutout of the season. He struck out six batters and walked one in the win.

Ray Durham and Michael Tucker each had a pair of hits for the Giants, who have won back-to-back games.

For the Phillies, Jason Michaels and Bobby Abreu had two hits apiece.

Jon Lieber (12-11) was handed the loss after yielding five runs and nine hits in seven innings of work.

Lowry retired the first two batters of the ninth inning before Abreu dinged an infield hit. LaTroy Hawkins then came out of the bullpen and struck out Pat Burrell to end the game.
