PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla., Aug. 15 (UPI) -- U.S. Presidents Cup captain Jack Nicklaus selected Justin Leonard and Fred Couples Monday to round out his 12-player squad this year.

The event is being played at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Va.

International captain Gary Player chose Australian Peter Lonard and South African Trevor Immelman to round out his team.

The Presidents Cup is a Ryder Cup-style event featuring a team of U.S. players against a squad of international players from outside Europe contested every two years.

The last time the Presidents Cup was played in 2003 it ended in a 17-17 tie at The Links Course at Fancourt Hotel & Country Club Estates in South Africa. Player and Nicklaus captained those teams and agreed to come back and captain them again this time around.
