MLB: Detroit 7, Boston 6

DETROIT, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- John MacDonald's two-out, RBI single capped a three-run ninth and drove in the winning run Monday as the Detroit Tigers beat the Boston Red Sox, 7-6.

Magglio Ordonez and Omar Infante each drove in a pair of runs for the Tigers.

Alex Cora had a two-run homer and three RBI and David Ortiz added a homer and two RBI for Boston, which had its six-game winning streak end. The Red sox saw their lead in the AL East shrink to 3 1/2 games over New York.

Curt Schilling (4-5) was the victim of the Tigers' three-run rally in the ninth.
