MLB: Chi. Cubs 4, St. Louis 1

CHICAGO, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Michael Barrett had three hits and one RBI Friday afternoon as the Chicago Cubs beat St. Louis, 4-1.

Derrek Lee added two doubles, one RBI and scored a run and Aramis Ramirez and Neifi Perez each added an RBI for the Cubs, who have won two in a row following an eight-game losing streak.

Winner Carlos Zambrano (9-5) hurled six scoreless innings before being lifted because of back stiffness. Zambrano walked one and struck out five.

Kerry Wood, normally a starter, picked up his first save in the closer's role.

Losing pitcher Jason Marquis, Albert Pujols and John Rodriguez each had two hits and Skip Schumaker had an RBI single for St. Louis, which had won four in a row and 7 of 9 games.

Marquis (9-11) was touched for three runs and 10 hits over seven innings with three walks and two strikeouts.
