MLB: Florida 5, Arizona 0

MIAMI, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- A.J. Burnett hurled a three-hit shutout Tuesday night and also hit an RBI single as Florida beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 5-0.

Mike Lowell and Matt Treanor had two hits apiece and scored two runs for Florida, which stopped a two-game slide.

Burnett (10-6) won fifth straight start, a career high. While going the distance, he walked four and struck out five. The right-hander now has 14 career complete game and eight shutouts.

Losing pitcher Javier Vazquez dropped to 9-11. In five innings, he allowed eight hits and five runs with four walks and three strikeouts.

Shawn Green and Luis Gonzalez each singled for Arizona, which has lost 5 of 7.The Diamondbacks have been outscored 12-0 in Vazquez' last two starts and have been shutout four times this season with him on the mound.
