BETHLEHEM, Pa., Aug. 5 (UPI) -- The Philadelphia Eagles Friday lost starting wide receiver Todd Pinkston for the entire 2005 season because of a ruptured Achilles tendon.
He suffered the injury in practice at training camp, after getting tangled with cornerback Matt Ware while running for a pass.
The five-year veteran led all NFC receivers in 2004 with an 18.8-yard average. He will undergo season-ending surgery and could be sidelined for up to six months.
"It's tough any time any of your guys go down," said Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb. "We've had one receiver (Terrell Owens) go down yesterday and Todd got hurt today. That's something that we definitely don't need on the offensive side or as a team."
In his career, Pinkston, a Southern Mississippi product, has played in 78 games and has 184 receptions for 2,816 yards and 14 touchdowns.
