DALLAS, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Mike Modano will return to the Dallas Stars next season after all, reaching a new, five-year deal with the Dallas/Minnesota franchise.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
"After a whirlwind day, it brings me great pleasure to announce that we were able to work out a contract to keep Mike Modano in Dallas for the next five years," said Dallas General Manager Doug Armstrong. "This new contract practically ensures that Mike will retire a Dallas Star, and we are thrilled that he will be back with us."
Modano has played in 1,101 regular-season games, recording 458 goals and 648 assists, all of which are Stars franchise records. He had 14 goals and 30 assists in 76 games during the 2003-04 season and helped Dallas win the Stanley Cup in 1999.
