MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Lew Ford tripled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday night as Minnesota beat Oakland, 4-3.
With the victory, the Twins snapped a six-game skid.

Michael Cuddyer hit two home runs and had three RBI as the Twins beat the red-hot Athletics, who came in with 13 wins in their last 14 games.
In relief, winning pitcher Joe Nathan improved to 3-3. He hurled a perfect ninth inning.
Loser Justin Duchsherer dropped to 4-2.
Dan Johnson was 2-for-4 with a solo homer for Oakland, which had an eight-game road winning streak snapped.
