MLB: Boston 8, Kansas City 5

BOSTON, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Manny Ramirez hit a three-run homer Wednesday night as Boston topped the Kansas City Royals, 8-5.

Ramirez was injured in a collision with shortstop Edgar Renteria in the second inning and removed from the contest.

Tony Graffanino had two hits and one RBI and scored two runs for Boston, which had 12 hits overall and has won seven in a row.

Emil Brown hit a two-run homer and Mike Sweeney added a solo shot for Kansas City, which has lost six straight.

Winner Wade Miller improved to 4-4. He allowed six hits and five runs in six-plus innings with three walks and five strikeouts. Curt Schilling recorded his seventh save.

Losing pitcher Kyle Snyder (0-3) gave up five runs and eight hits over 3 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out one.
