UNCASVILLE, Conn., July 30 (UPI) -- Plenette Pierson scored 17 points off the bench Saturday as the Detroit Shock knocked off Connecticut, 75-66.
It was the first home loss of the season for the Sun, as Detroit stopped a four-game losing streak. The Shock held Connecticut to a season-low 19 points in the first half.
Deanna Nolan was Detroit's leading scorer with 19 and Elaine Powell added 14. Cheryl Ford and Ruth Riley combined for 15 rebounds.
Margo Dydek led the Eastern Conference-leading Sun, who fell to 18-6, with 16. Taj McWilliams-Franklin added 15.
Detroit now is 9-12.
