ST. LOUIS, July 22 (UPI) -- David Eckstein's squeeze bunt scored the winning run Friday night as St. Louis edged the Chicago Cubs, 2-1.

In relief of Chris Carpenter, who was involved in a pitcher's duel with Carlos Zambrano for eight innings, Al Reyes improved to 3-1.

Loser Sergio Mitre fell to 2-5.

John Rodriguez homered for St. Louis, which has won two of three.
